Description

The Workshop Hostel is for students who want to learn the techniques of Italian Maiolica and at the same time, live with the locals in a Medieval Town. Ceramic Workshop includes instructions, demonstrations, individual evaluation, ceramic bisque-ware, glazes and firing. Classes are small; this is intentional which enables the instructor to spend more time with each student and assess each of their specific needs. The beautiful Italian ceramics has attracted artists for centuries.

The Ceramic Studio is located in a neighboring town of FORMIA about 30-min down the old Appian Way (312 BC), passing the City of ITRI with another fantastic Medieval Castle, and the Tomb of Cicero (43 BC) in FORMIA. The studio will supply all glazes, ceramic bisque-ware, firing and workshop lunches. Students must supply their own brushes.

We offer other consecutive workshop-sessions in Cooking, Italian Conversational, Plein Air Painting for those students who would like to stay longer and have weekends free to explore Rome, Vatican, Naples, Florence, surrounding Seaside Villages, and travel around Italy (there is no additional Hostel cost for weekend stay).
