Description
Workshop Hostel is for students who want to paint in a Medieval Town and live with the locals. Workshop Sessions are held in plein air on location, Monday through Friday. We offer 3 consecutive sessions (3 weeks) for those students who would like to stay longer and have weekends free to explore Rome, Vatican, Naples, Florence, surrounding Seaside Villages, and travel around Italy. Other Workshop Sessions are: Plein Air Painting (Fondi and Italian Riviera), Cooking & Dinning, and Italian Language. : Workshop Classes are small (3-10), this is intentional which enables the instructor to spend more time with each student and assess each of their specific needs. Examples of painting sites are: FONDI’s famous Medieval Castle, Italian landscapes, palazzos, Cathedrals, Roman Ruins, outdoor cafes, gelato parlor, Mediterranean seascapes, outdoor fruit & vegetable markets, and everyday life scenes in a small Medieval Town.
Elaine Hahn - The Workshop will be painting on location from direct observations. Artists will be encouraged to simplify the subject matter through focusing on the composition, massing shapes and color relationships. Working with these three main areas will allow us to identify and address each aspect of any given painting. All of this needs to be handled in a short amount of time because of the quickly changing light.
There will be daily demonstrations and lots of personal attention.
